UPDATE: The Loveland Loves to Read committee sends warm wishes for your health and safety, as we continue to share updates on our chosen author and book title. We have a contract with William Kent Krueger for his visit to Loveland in November; however, details are uncertain at this time. Be sure to keep his book, This Tender Land, on your reading list. It will be available in paperback on May 26th. In the meantime, you may want to re-read Huckleberry Finn. As Krueger says: “This is my Huckleberry Finn.” Check back with us for additional updates. WE KEEP ON READING with patience and hope!

He’s coming back to Loveland! In 2015, William Kent Krueger became a favorite author among the Loveland Loves to Read fans, and now he will return. In 2015 we read Ordinary Grace, a story of pain and values in difficult situations. The 2020 book choice is This Tender Land, a story that is part Grapes of Wrath and part Huckleberry Finn, with a reflection on what this nation has become. Adults and young adults will enjoy this story, set in the depression, with four young loners who set off on their own.

Krueger’s presentation is scheduled for November 13, 7:00 p.m. at the Rialto Theater in Loveland. He will speak of This Tender Land and the Transformative Power of Stories, a topic that relates to all ages. Tickets will be available through the Rialto website on July 7th. All seats will be reserved at $30 Premium (closest to the stage) and $20 General (back rows and balcony). Prices include the ticketing fees.
